Ammoudara

Ammoudara is situated on the outskirts of the island’s capital, Heraklion just 6 klms to the west. Its name means "the huge sand” and it is a well developed modern tourist resort, built along one of the islands, with best sandy beaches.Its well organized beach is long and slopes gently into the inviting waters of the Mediterranean. There are many facilities for water sports including diving and snorkeling. The beach is lined with hotels of various categories, restaurants, taverns and bars, providing refreshments and night time entertainment.
