Gouves

Located just 18 klms from Heraklion, and because of its central location it is an ideal choice for exploring the island. The road to the west leads to Heraklion, Rethymnon and Chania, and to the east are the resorts of Hersonissos, Malia and Aghios Nikolaos. Gouves is divided into two parts, Kato (lower) Gouves and Pano (upper) Gouves. Kato Gouves is a small but well-developed tourist resort with a long sandy organized beach and has a variety of accommodation choices ranging from large hotels to self-catering apartments. There are many restaurants, bars, nightclubs and shops providing everything visitors may require spending a relaxing and carefree holiday. Pano Gouves is located 2 klm above the main road and it is a small traditional village with narrow alleyways, original cafenions and taverns.
