Aghia Varvara

Aghia Varvara is a municipality in the Heraklion Prefecture, rich in archaeological and cultural history. There was found the old city of Rizinia, which flourished after the Minoan times. In the monuments of this city, were found many vessels of clay and two temples, which one of them was dedicated to the goddess, Rea, mother of Zeus, father of the 12 gods of Olympus Mountain. In the area there are many caves with stalactites and stalagmites.
