Heraklion Airport

Heraklion International Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis”, is the primary airport on the island of Crete. It is located to the east, about 5km, from the main city of Heraklion, at the north side of the island. It took its name from the famous Greek writer and philosopher, Nikos Kazantzakis. It is the country's second busiest airport after Athens International Airport and in Crete is the main, serving all the areas around. According to a recent survey, it ranks 69th among all European airports in terms of annual traffic. There are taxis available at the kerb opposite the arrivals hall providing a quick and efficient service. There are also frequent itineraries with local buses.
